This fact sheet discusses the mission of the National PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) Resource Center.
Abstract
The mission of the National PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) Resource Center (PRC) is to assist State, local, and tribal confinement facilities in their efforts to eliminate sexual abuse in correctional facilities by increasing their capacity for prevention, detection, and responses to incidents of sexual abuse. A link is provided for accessing the PRC Web site. The Web site contains an extensive amount of information including a searchable library, PRC developed training curricula, information about the standards used in the audit process, archived Webinars, and information about training and technical assistance opportunities. Current providers of training and technical assistance include the American Jail Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Vera Institute of Justice, and the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors.
