Abstract
Specific articles look at how the Technology Assessment Program of the National Institute of Justice and the Law Enforcement Standards Laboratory assists in the selection and procurement of superior law enforcement equipment, the development of performance standards for police traffic radar speed-measuring devices, and coping with the computer revolution. Law enforcement information systems, computer-assisted management of police reporting system, the use of computers in police training, and a computerized fingerprint system are examined. The last article presents forensic guidelines for the collection and preservation of arson evidence. Photographs and tables are included.
