Questionnaire data obtained from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were analyzed to evaluate police shift patterns in British Columbia, and findings are presented in this volume of 23 appendixes.
Abstract
The appendixes provide statistics on 9.25-, 10-, and 12-hour shift schedules, based on inputs from police commanders, police officers, police spouses, and citizens. Data elements include detachment location, police officer position and rank, police officer gender and physical characteristics, education, spouse occupation, children, household income, months worked on present shift, years of service, months of service at detachment, principal duties at detachment, and alertness. Responses document police activities according to shift patterns, police officer work attitudes, police officer preferences and morale, spouse attitudes toward police shift patterns, positive and negative aspects of shift work, and citizen satisfaction with police services.
