Abstract
A section on the problem of bullying contains three chapters that describe the range of bullying behaviors, societal attitudes toward bullying, and the impact of bullying on children. The second section consists of five chapters that instruct parents on what to do if their child is a target of bullying. Topics focus on how to know if your child is being bullied, talking with your child about bullying, teaching your child to stand up to bullying safely, overcoming problems common to targets of bullying, and what to do if nothing works. The third section features three chapters on what parents can do if their child bullies other children. The chapters discuss what to do if your child bullies others, overcoming problems common to children who bully, and helping a child deal with anger. In advising parents about bullying, the author draws not only on the relevant literature, but also on his many years of clinical experience in counseling children and adolescents who have been bullied, have bullied others, or witnessed bullying. The book is filled with illustrative case examples. Chapter notes, 7 recommended publications, and a subject index
