This document contains the final assessment report of the National Neighborhood Mobilization Project to Prevent Crime, operated by Youth Development, Inc., under a grant from the National Institute of Justice.
Abstract
The National Neighborhood Mobilization Program aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of public and private partnerships among citizens, grassroots organizations, schools, clergy, business, law enforcement, and other public and private service providers to reduce crime, violence, and illicit drug use. Youth Development, Inc., instituted a community mobilization effort in Albuquerque which motivated and educated community members to take action against drugs, crime, gang activity, and violence in their area. This report includes pre- and post-program surveys of community residents to ascertain their perceptions of the neighborhood crime problem.
