Intended to help local communities develop strategies to address the needs of youth involved with illegal drugs and alcohol, this document describes promising programs, projects, and research and address the problem of juvenile alcohol and other drug abuse and lists and sponsoring agencies and clearinghouses from which to obtain further information.
Abstract
The text describes programs designed to increase public awareness of the problem; provide education and training to young people as well as their families, teachers, and other adults who work with this population; and improve the ability of juvenile justice and human service agencies to address drug abuse. Individual sections describe promising programs and research; available curriculums, training, and technical assistance; relevant publications related to prevention, treatment, and control; national clearinghouses and clearinghouses that provide services to Federal agency grantees; and the member agencies of the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
