INCOMPLETE BUT IMPORTANT DATA ON THE EXTENT AND NATURE OF INTERNATIONAL ILLICIT DRUG TRAFFIC ARE PRESENTED FOR 1977.
Abstract
THE REPORT IS INTENDED TO SHOW THE EXTENT AND NATURE OF THE FLOW OF THE INTERNATIONAL DRUG TRAFFIC, CHANGES IN THE FLOW OF ILLICIT DRUG TRAFFIC FROM YEAR TO YEAR, THE LEVEL OF COOPERATION BETWEEN MEMBER COUNTRIES OF THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL POLICE ORGANIZATION (INTERPOL) IN COMBATING THE TRAFFIC, AND THE POSSIBLE NATURE OF FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS. THE EVOLUTION OF THE DRUG TRAFFIC IS DISCUSSED FOR DRUGS SUCH AS OPIUM, MORPHINE, HEROIN, COCAINE, AND PSYCHOTROPIC SUBSTANCES. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OF VARIOUS POLICE SERVICES IN FIGHTING DRUG TRAFFIC IS ILLUSTRATED BY SEVERAL CASE HISTORIES RELATING AMOUNTS OF DRUGS SEIZED, LOCATION(S) OF THE OCCURRENCES, AND THE AUTHORITIES INVOLVED. THE ACTIVITIES OF THE GENERAL SECRETARIAT ARE BRIEFLY RECOUNTED. THE DOCUMENTS PRODUCED BY THE INTERPOL DRUGS SUBDIVISION IN 1977 ARE CITED. CONFERENCE AND WORKING PARTIES ARE LISTED FOR THE TIME PERIOD OF JANUARY 1 TO DECEMBER 31, 1977. TABLES ILLUSTRATE COMMUNICATIONS RECEIVED AND SENT BY THE GENERAL SECRETARIAT.
