Abstract
To assist correctional administrators in assessing the quality of inmate health care in a correctional facility, this manual asks questions about various aspects of the health care services currently provided. Questions generally require a 'yes' or 'no' answer with room for comments. The aspects of primary health care covered are inmate reception process, emergency care, dispensary services, and community hospital care. Secondary health care services encompass infirmary care, and preventive health services include sanitation and preventive medicine. The assessment of facilities and equipment focuses on the ambulatory care area.
