Abstract
The Committee on Community-Level Programs for Youth, an interdisciplinary group with expertise in a range of relevant fields, was asked to assess the strengths and limitations of measurement tools and methodologies that had been used to evaluate these programs, and to address the policy and programmatic implications of this research. The Committee was asked to identify those training programs for which evidence was sufficiently strong to suggest that they deserved replication. They were also asked to consider how programs might be replicated in other communities. Project activities have included fund development, staff recruitment, committee development, the convening of six committee meetings and two workshops, the creation of small working groups, working group meetings, and the development of a draft report. The project has and will continue to devote considerable effort to soliciting input from researchers and service providers from around the country, as well as create opportunities for public comment and input. Copies of the final report and executive summary will be widely distributed and the report will be available online through the National Academy Press. A series of public policy briefings will be conducted upon release of the committee’s final report. The centerpiece of the dissemination strategy will be a series of community forums conducted across the country with selected committee members and a large group of community stakeholders. The forums will emphasize dialogue and interaction on the issues and recommendations identified by the committee. A Power Point presentation will be designed to highlight key findings and recommendations in the report. The findings will be presented and discussed at national or local professional meetings. 9 appendices
