Fifty adult probationers who participated in a GED preparation program sponsored by the probation department were compared with 50 non-participant probationers in terms of rearrest rates.
Abstract
It was found that participation significantly reduced recidivism during a three and one-half year period. Not only were fewer participants arrested, those participants who were arrested were shown to be less criminally involved in terms of frequency and intensity of involvement. (Author abstract)
