OVERVIEW OF THE PROBLEM OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AND CONSIDERATIONS FOR SOLVING THIS PROBLEM WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.
Abstract
FOLLOWING THE INITIAL BACKGROUND MATERIAL, GUIDELINES FOR COMMUNITY ACTION ARE SET FORTH. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT THE INITIAL STEP BE TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT, SCOPE, AND NATURE OF THE DELINQUENCY AND YOUTH CRIME PROBLEM. THE COMMUNITY MUST SET PRIORITIES, DEVELOP INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS (SUCH AS YOUTH SERVICE BUREAUS), AND BASE THESE TREATMENT PROGRAMS IN THE COMMUNITY. ADDITIONAL AREAS TO BE CONSIDERED ARE PERSONNEL, LEGAL SERVICES FOR YOUTHS, AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION ACTIVITIES. INCLUDED IS A LIST OF MATERIAL AVAILABLE FROM THE GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE, ON VARIOUS ASPECTS OF DELINQUENCY PREVENTION AND CONTROL, AND A LIST OF REGIONAL HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND WELFARE, JUVENILE DELINQUENCY REPRESENTATIVES.
