Abstract
A CLASSIFICATION OF OFFENDERS AND FORMS OF TREATMENT WITH DEFINITE TREATMENT RECOMMENDATIONS, SPECIFYING WHICH LAWBREAKERS MIGHT BENEFIT MOST FROM SPECIFIC THERAPIES. INDIVIDUAL DEPTH PSYCHOTHERAPY, GROUP PSYCHOTHERAPY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE ARE DESCRIBED. OBSTACLES TO TREATMENT, SUCH AS THE INFORMAL INMATE SOCIAL SYSTEM IN PRISON, AND MEASURES BY WHICH SUCH IMPEDIMENTS CAN BE CIRCUMVENTED ARE DESCRIBED. DISCUSSION OF TYPOLOGIES AND SUCH CRIMINAL ROLES AS THE PROFESSIONAL THIEF, WHITE COLLAR CRIME, NARCOTIC ADDICT, AND VIOLENT SEX OFFENDER IS INCLUDED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
