This report highlights activities of the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), during fiscal year 1993.
Abstract
Program activities reflected the Administration's emphasis on reducing violence in the streets and in the home, increasing citizen involvement in crime prevention, and developing comprehensive approaches to address the factors that contribute to crime. The BJA's discretionary grant program is described here, in terms of funding for programs focusing on violence reduction, community-oriented policing, youth and gangs, crime and drug abuse prevention, law enforcement, prosecution and adjudication, and correctional options. The report outlines 21 purpose areas of the BJA's formula grant program and summarizes activities of other BJA categorical programs, covering child victims, regional information sharing, public safety officers' benefits, and Mariel Cuban reimbursement. 4 appendixes
