This article presents information on the establishment of the Electronic Crime Technology Center of Excellence.
The Electronic Crime Technology Center of Excellence is part of the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC) System and is designed to improve the capacity of the criminal justice community to conduct electronic crime investigations and digital forensic evidence examinations. Work currently under way by the center includes cataloging available training on digital evidence and electronic crime, evaluating tools and technologies, convening working groups to provide participants with the opportunity to assist with tool and technology evaluations, developing field guides on topics such as forensic evidence collection and examination, hosting training programs on electronic crime investigation and digital evidence examination, and attending meetings and conferences to promote awareness of the center and the NLECTC System.
