This booklet provides information on eight classes of dangerous drugs.
Abstract
The drug types are marijuana, cocaine, alcohol, depressants, amphetamines, heroin and other opiates, inhalants, and hallucinogens. The same format of information is presented for each drug type; it consists of the drug (street names), type of drug, appearance, how it is taken into the body, other forms of the drug, drug effects, drug dangers, and the magnitude of the problem. The depressants consist of three categories: benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and methaqualone. Amphetamines include drugs such as Dexodrine, Biphetamine, Ritalin, Preludin, and Methedrine. The three categories of opiates addressed are heroin, morphine, and codeine. The inhalants encompassed in the information include plastic cement, fingernail polish remover, lighter fluid, nitrous oxide, ether, hair spray, insecticides, and cleaning fluid. The hallucinogens encompass PCP, LSD, Ecstacy, Psilocybin, and Peyote and Mescaline.
