This curriculum, which focuses on police interactions with, and knowledge of, the criminal justice system, is designed as a guideline for performance objective-based law enforcement basic training developed as part of the California Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) system.
Abstract
This unit covers specific performance objectives including identifying officials of the criminal justice system; defining major goals of the criminal justice system; outlining functions of Federal, State, and local agencies; and defining judicial terms. Other topics covered include general conditions of parole and probation, similarities and differences between probation and parole, and constitutional rights. Additional materials and references to be used for instruction, remediation, additional reading, viewing, and instructor planning are provided.
