This final report presents a synopsis of grant activities between January 1980 and December 1981 undertaken as part of the New Jersey statewide arson strategy.
Abstract
Activities included the development and delivery of training programs for arson detection, investigation, and prosecution; the establishment of a committee to provide a vehicle for analyzing arson and related issues and develop programs for arson control; development of a statewide arson control strategy; and development of an arson response capability in the 21 county prosecutors' offices. Other activities were initiation of a State investigation team, creation of a habitual offenders team to probe professional arsonists and arson-for-pay rings and development of a uniform fire/arson reporting system. Synopsis of control plans, findings of a study of State arson statistics for 1978-1981, and a copy of an arson investigation and prosecution manual are provided.
