This training manual for private security officers details their functions and explains procedures to be followed under a variety of circumstances.
Abstract
An introductory chapter reviews the code of ethics, rules of conduct, and officers' primary responsibility. The next chapter reviews the sources and nature of the security officer's authority and jurisdiction. Also covered is the development of good relations between security officers and the general public. Chapters on general procedures pertain to arrest laws and procedures, search and seizure laws and procedures, patrol procedures, notetaking and report writing, and weapons use. Chapters also address the handling of the following circumstances: public disturbances, a crime in progress, safety and fire prevention, preservation of the crime scene, evidence recognition, emergency medical assistance, crowd control (including civil disorders), and courtroom testifying. A 17-item bibliography and a subject index.
