This tip sheet from the National Mass Violence Victimization Resource Center suggests items for a personal "Go Kit" for victim assistance professionals (VAPs) who are contacted to work at a response center or family assistance center in the aftermath of a mass violence incident (MVI).

Abstract

In addition to standard identification items, including agency/organization identification card, the suggestions for inclusion in a "Go Kit" include health maintenance items (medications, vitamins, and a bracelet listing allergies), a card for mass transportation, a cash/ATM card, a credit card, cell phone and charger, emergency contact information, a carrying pack for materials, tablet and/or computer, suggested snacks and beverages, and note-taking items. Clothing items recommended are comfortable clothing with pockets, comfortable shoes, and a light jacket and/or shawl.
