Abstract
The guidelines emphasize that community crime prevention must be a proactive, citizen awareness initiative that uses public education in a concerted manner to enable participants to reduce the opportunity for criminal victimization on an individual and community level. The effort is carried out by means of a working partnership with government in the form of the law enforcement agency and existing community organizations or institutions. The manual explains each of the 12 activity steps that incorporate the principles of planning, operations, analysis, and maintenance of a community crime prevention program. For each activity step, the goal, objectives, and specific components are included. Checklists, flow chart, and 6 references
