In the past two decades, Western nations have experienced a rapid and alarming increase in crime, resulting in severe criticism of the effectiveness of the police.
Abstract
In an effort to change and reform these police forces, Japanese police techniques have often been introduced and recommended. The author questions whether it is possible to adopt the policing techniques of a country as unique as Japan. This article concludes that is is not the particular techniques but rather the Japanese police officers' attitude toward work which is the key to the success of the Japanese police.
