This handbook provides a practical guide for women in discussing abusive relationships in the hope of preventing further violence.
Abstract
This handbook offers women an aid in steps toward stopping relationship violence. The handbook was created to help women understand relationship abuse and give them some simple steps to take to stop the violence. The handbook is divided into seven sections. The first section defines what relationship abuse is and the 10 warning signs of an abusive relationship. The second section addresses the ability a friend or loved one to ask about the abuse breaking through the wall of isolation that exist around victims of relationship abuse. The third section discusses teen violence and how to recognize signs of a potential abuser. The fourth section looks into family ties and how domestic violence is a learned behavior. In the fifth section, domestic violence is seen as everyone’s business spilling over into the workplace. The sixth section discusses how a woman thinking about leaving an abusive relationship can make a safety plan. The seventh and final section offers available resources for women in an abusive relationship.
