The tables in this report present data on recidivism in Wisconsin for the period January 1980 through May 1983, defining recidivism as the return of any offender to an adult correctional facility as a permanent readmission.
Abstract
The study found that 1,252 offenders recidivated, a rate of 18.9 percent. The tables show the number of offenders who recidivated for a second, third, and fourth time and the time lapses between readmissions. Statistics for both sexes are provided. Overall, recidivism decreased each successive year following release. Admission categories used in the report are appended.
