Abstract
THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF FACILITIES FOR DELINQUENT YOUTH, SUCH AS DETENTION HOMES AND DIAGNOSTIC CENTERS. FOLLOWING A BRIEF DISCUSSION OF ATTITUDINAL REFORM AS THE THEORETICAL BASIS FOR COUNSELING, THE AUTHOR COMMENTS ON THE COUNSELOR MODEL, CITING IMAGINATION AS A VERY IMPORTANT QUALITY AND DISILLUSIONMENT AND LACK OF ATTENTION BY SUPERVISORS AS PROBLEMS. RELATIONS BETWEEN INSTITUTIONALIZED YOUTH AND THE COUNSELOR IS THE SUBJECT OF THE REMAINDER OF THE BOOK. SEVERAL CASE STUDIES AND EXAMPLES FROM THE AUTHOR'S PERSONAL EXPERIENCES ARE USED TO ILLUSTRATE PROBLEM SITUATIONS CONFRONTED BY COUNSELORS AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS.
