THIS ARTICLE DISCUSSES THE USE OF PASSWORDS IN GAINING ACCESS TO A COMPUTER DATA BASE.
Abstract
PASSWORDS MAY BE ASSIGNED BY THE SYSTEM SECURITY OFFICER, THE ARTICLE POINTS OUT, OR BY THE COMPUTER SYSTEM ITSELF. USER ASSIGNED PASSWORDS ARE EASIER TO RECALL, HOWEVER. PASSWORDS THAT REMAIN IN EFFECT INDEFINITELY ARE THE MOST VULNERABLE TO DISCOVERY THROUGH GUESSING OR TESTING. CAREFULLY DESIGNED AND IMPLEMENTED PASSWORD TECHNIQUES ARE LITERALLY A GOOD BUY....BDS
