FINAL NARRATIVE REPORT OF A PROGRAM WHICH USES COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS TO AUGMENT AND ENRICH EXISTING CLIENT SERVICES OF THE FAMILY COURT STAFF.
Abstract
MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF V.I.P. (VOLUNTEERS IN PROBATION) PROVIDED A BROADER BASE OF DIRECT CLIENT SERVICES TO PROBATIONERS, AND ENABLED THE COURT TO PROCESS CASES MORE ACCURATELY AND SWIFTLY. VOLUNTEERS FILLED THE POSITIONS OF ONE-TO-ONE COUNSELOR, SUPPORT DEPARTMENT OFFICER, INTAKE COUNSELOR, SECRETARIAL AID. RECRUITMENT WAS ACHIEVED THROUGH A LOW-KEY PROCESS EMPHASIZING THE QUALITY, NOT QUANTITY OF VOLUNTEERS. THE REPORT DETAILS ADMINISTRATIVE OPERATIONS, RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES, AND PROGRESS OF THE PROGRAM, WHICH IS NOW COORDINATED WITH A STATEWIDE V.I.P. EFFORT. SAMPLE RECRUITMENT QUESTIONNAIRES, VOLUNTEERS' JOB DESCRIPTIONS, AND BUDGETARY INFORMATION ARE INCLUDED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
