Abstract
THE FIRST SECTION REVIEWS THE EXTENT OF JUSTICE VOLUNTEERISM NOTING PROGRAMS IN VIRTUALLY EVERY ASPECT OF AMERICAN JUSTICE AS WELL AS DATA INDICATING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SUCH EFFORTS. THE EVOLUTION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE VOLUNTEERISM INTO A NATIONAL MOVEMENT IS REVIEWED, EMPHASIZING THE EVENTS WHICH SPAWNED THE CREATION, IN 1977, OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION ON VOLUNTEERS IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE. NATIONAL FORUMS OCCURRING THROUGHOUT THE 1970'S ON VOLUNTEERS IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE ILLUSTRATE THE EXTENT OF COMMUNITY INTEREST AND THE INCREASING VISIBILITY OF THE MOVEMENT.
