This packet of materials is designed for use in a five-lesson 4-H project designed to teach fifth- to eighth-grade youths about vandalism and the need for respect of other's property.
Abstract
The lessons cover the extent and impact of vandalism; the forces that shape attitudes toward vandalism; the economic, social, and psychological effects of vandalism; factors associated with vandals and vandalism; and prevention strategies. An instructor's handbook includes bulletin board suggestions, activities for the classroom or clubroom, an annotated film list, a pretest and posttest, and an evaluation form. The participant's manual presents basic concepts of each lesson, along with community activities in which participants engage. A community coordinator's guide presents a series of steps to strengthen the relationship between the class or club and the community. An order form is included. Nine references are listed.
