This report describes the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) Foreign Cooperative Investigations Program and its proposed funding for fiscal years 1980 and 1981.
Abstract
The program addresses illicit drugs of foreign origin that are destined for consumption in the United States. DEA's foreign program is focused mainly on activities related to drug law enforcement. These include assisting host countries in developing their own drug law enforcement capabilities and acquiring information on drug traffickers for the purpose of immobilizing them and their organizations, either abroad or in the United States. Elements of the program include criminal information collection and exchange, positive intelligence collection, data analysis and production, administration, liaison, training, and management direction. Efforts will be conducted in Mexico and Central America, South American areas, Europe and the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Resource requirements include $9,160 and 135 positions for fiscal year 1980. Tables
