This report provides information on the 1995 activities of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and its work program for 1996-97.
Abstract
The objective of the UNICRI is to contribute through research, training, field activities, and the collection, exchange, and dissemination of information to the formulation and implementation of improved policies in the field of crime prevention and control. The Institute is attentive to the integration of such policies within broader policies for socioeconomic change and development as well as the protection of human rights. In conducting its work, the Institute cooperates with the other components of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network. A statement of objectives focuses on executive direction and management, financial administration and program support, research and technical cooperation, and documentation services and related activities. One chapter of this report addresses policy formulation, and this is followed by a series of chapters that describe the Institute's activities in its major focus areas: executive direction and management, financial management and program support, collaboration with the United Nations and other international and national organizations, research and technical cooperation, and documentation services and related activities. The outline of the work program for 1996-97 is composed of collaboration with the United Nations and other international and national organizations, research and technical cooperation, and documentation services and related activities. A list of available UNICRI publications is provided.
