This report reviews the achievements of the past 3 years for the European Network for Policewomen, based in the Netherlands, and projects a policy plan for the organization through 1997.
Abstract
Since its founding in 1989, the European Network for Policewomen (ENP) has developed and coordinated a network of policewomen organizations and individuals, both women and men, who have worked together to optimize the position of women police officers. In its first 3 years the ENP has developed contacts in all the countries of Europe, has provided a channel for policewomen to exchange their knowledge and experiences, has promoted mutual support among European policewomen, has encouraged plans for national networks for policewomen, has promoted international research into topics relevant to the work of policewomen, and has established close contacts with politicians in the nations of Europe. The future policy plan for the ENP is divided into the areas of advice and counseling, training, facilities, research and development, and public relations publicity. Organization and funding are also discussed.
