This paper discusses the influences of two factors that are particularly important to polygraph validity because examiners frequently are unaware of their vital role: the decisionmaking system and the deceptive population.
Abstract
Polygraph examination validity is influenced both by the decisionmaking system of which the polygraph examination is a part and the number of deceptive people in the population. Validity can be increased by retesting subjects and/or using information in addition to polygraph test outcome. (Author abstract)
