Abstract

The Tribal Youth Resource Center (TYRC), a program of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), is committed to changing the narrative for Native youth. The Center offers training, technical assistance, resources and tools, online learning events, national and regional conferences and trainings, and youth leadership opportunities. The OJJDP offers free training and technical assistance (TTA) to all OJJDP Tribal grantees to facilitate program planning, enhancement, and implementation. The Tribal Law and Policy Institute (TLPI), along with its partner the National Native Children’s Trauma Center (NNCTC), provides TTA to increase tribal communities’ skills and knowledge about programs and strategies, building capacity to develop effective and sustainable programs for reducing juvenile crime and increasing youth potential in tribal communities. The Tribal Youth Resource Center envisions a future in which Indigenous youth thrive through traditional lifeways. The Tribal Youth Resource Center Youth Ambassador Initiative provides young leaders active in their tribal communities the opportunity to contribute their unique wisdom and voices to the work of the TYRC.
