This report describes the outcomes of an Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) grant to the National Victim Center to provide training and technical support to nonprofit organizations nationwide that offer services to the families of missing and exploited children.
Abstract
The goal of the 3-year grant was to provide nonprofit organizations with training and technical assistance to enhance their capacity to serve their communities, to assist in the prevention of child abductions and sexual exploitation, to facilitate the recovery of children, and to provide services to the children's families. Following a training needs assessment, the National Victim Center developed several strategies to provide state-of-the-art technical assistance and training. These strategies included the development of technical assistance bulletins, establishment of a lending library, development of "Missing Kids Day" kits, consideration of ad hoc technical assistance requests, performance of computer network feasibility studies, and development and hosting of training conferences. 4 appendixes
