EXAMINES THE INADEQUACY OF TRADITIONAL PARA-MILITARY POLICE ORGANIZATION.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR STATES THAT TRADITIONAL POLICE ORGANIZATION WILL FAIL IN ALL BUT THE SMALLER DEPARTMENTS BECAUSE OF ITS INABILITY TO CONTEND WITH SOCIETY ITSELF AND ITS POWER TO REDEFINE ASPECTS OF THE POLICE ROLE. ITS FAILURE WILL ALSO BE ATTRIBUTED TO A RISING LEVEL OF EXPECTATION AND SELF-CONCEPT AMONG SOME POLICE OFFICERS THEMSELVES.
