This manual provides information about existing laws and regulations that public housing agencies and resident management corporations can use in addressing drug abuse and other drug-related criminal activity.
Abstract
Individual sections focus on management issues such as the screening of applicants, lease issues and remedies, and eviction information. They advise agencies to handle every applicant in the same way, explain policies, use forms and interviews appropriately, and verify the answers given. Further sections explain methods of handling applicants who do not quality, enforcing a lease without terminating it, removing an offending household member or guest, gathering information for an eviction case, and conducting the eviction process. Additional chapters cover physical and management improvements to prevent drug abuse, methods of establishing drug-free workplaces and handling employees convicted of drug law offenses, and approaches to involving residents in drug control efforts. Case examples, reference lists, list of resources from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and appended organization addresses and related information
