The program guide for this educational campaign to reduce crime and improve campus and community life, developed by the National Crime Prevention Council, presents an overview of the statistics that support a campus crime prevention effort. A quick reference guide includes suggestions for activities and sponsors. Twenty successful campus programs are profiled, accompanied by contact names and telephone numbers.
Abstract
The kit is comprised of a poster; 10 brochures; and 10 "quick tip" pages to use in newspapers, envelope stuffers, flyers, and other hand-outs around campus. It also includes a logo for T-shirts, key chains, bumper stickers, and other items. Materials that are reproducible with space for a group's name or a university logo include a "how-to" guide for a campus crime prevention campaign; a resource directory of books, audiovisual aids, organizations, and individuals to assist in networking; and access to the resources of the National Crime Prevention Council. Some of the specific issues covered by this kit include date rape, drinking and driving, substance abuse, vacation tips, theft and fraud, violence reduction, and stress management.
