Abstract
This 1965 code with amendments through January 1972 contains three parts. Part One, "General Provisions," contains chapters on crimes and sanctions and the applicability of Swedish law. Part Two, "Of Crimes," contains chapters on the definitions of various types of offenses and associated sanctions. Among the crime classifications are those against life and health, liberty and peace, morals, family, public order, public activity, and the security of the realm. Other offenses specified involve defamation, fraud and other dishonesty, theft crimes, embezzlement, infliction of damage, falsification, perjury, false prosecution, crimes in office, and crimes by members of the armed services. Chapters also cover articles of war; attempt, preparation, conspiracy, and complicity; and self-defense and other acts of necessity. Part Three, "Of Sanctions," specifies the various types of sanctions. They encompass fines, imprisonment, conditional sentence, probation, youth imprisonment, internment, surrender for special care, and forfeiture of property. Also covered are punishments of public servants and disciplinary punishments of service personnel, the reduction and exclusion of sanctions, and provisions concerning concurrence of crimes and change of sanction.
