Abstract
AN INTRODUCTORY SECTION DESCRIBES THE SHORTCOMINGS OF PRISONS AND THE TYPES OF COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS. WORK RELEASE PROGRAMS, HALFWAY HOUSES, GROUP HOMES, PROBATION AND PAROLE AND SPECIFIC TREATMENT PROJECTS ARE EXAMINED. INFORMATION RELEVANT TO TUSCALOOSA COUNTY INCLUDES THE RESULTS OF A SURVEY OF COMMUNITY LEADERS ON THE CORRECTION SERVICES IN THE COUNTY, A DESCRIPTION OF CURRENT SERVICES AND DATA REGARDING OFFENDERS IN THE COUNTY.
