This study examined the characteristics of Japanese youth who had accessed Internet websites to view pornography.
Abstract
The study was based on a fall 1997 survey of 1,928 high school and university students. The study eliminated subjects who did not use the Internet or used it no more than twice. The remaining subjects were divided into three groups: Male students who accessed Internet pornography (n=66); male students who did not access Internet pornography (n=61); and female students who did not access Internet pornography (n=64). Of the male students who accessed Internet pornography, 54.5 percent had their own personal computer, and they used the Internet more often than the other two groups. Among this group, 59.1 percent accessed the Internet from their home, and 57.8 percent used the Internet from 11:00 pm to 2:00 am. This group found out about pornographic websites by talking with their friends. 12 tables
