This report summarizes the indictments, felony dispositions, and felony cases awaiting disposition in New York during the first 13 terms of 1993 and provides comparisons with the same period in 1992, based on OCA caseload activity reports.
Abstract
The total number of indictments filed in New York State supreme courts declined 6.9 percent from the first 13 terms of 1992 to the same period in 1993. Total felony dispositions declined 3.9 percent during the same period. The total number of State felony cases awaiting disposition decreased 10.6 percent, while the number of felony dispositions pending for 6 months or more decreased 16.5 percent. The number of offenders convicted but still awaiting sentence decreased 3.1 percent at the close of the 13th term of 1993 as compared to the close of the 13th term of 1992.
