THE SOCIOLOGICAL AND CLINICAL APPROACH ARE SEEN AS INTERDEPENDENT IN THE FIELD OF CRIMINOLOGY THROUGH AN INDEPTH ANALYSIS OF VIOLENCE, PARTICULARLY HOMICIDE.
Abstract
THE AUTHORS DEVELOP A THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK, THE SUBCULTURE OF VIOLENCE, AND REINFORCE THIS BY ANALYSIS OF A SET OF KEY CONCEPTS-SUBCULTURE, ROLES, NORMS, AND VALUES. THE PHENOMENA OF AGGRESSION AND VIOLENCE ARE THEN EXPLORED IN THEIR BIOLOGICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, PSYCHIATRIC, AND SOCIOLOGICAL ASPECTS. FINALLY, PROBLEMS OF CONTROL, PREVENTION, AND TREATMENT OF THE VIOLENT OFFENDER ARE DISCUSSED, AND INDICATIONS ARE GIVEN OF LINES FOR FUTURE RESEARCH IN THE SUBCULTURE OF VIOLENCE. THE WORK PROVIDES A SURVEY AND ANALYTICAL DISCUSSION OF STUDIES CONCERNED WITH AGGRESSION, VIOLENCE, AND HOMICIDE, SUPPORTED BY A BIBLIOGRAPHY.
