THE RESULTS OF THIS STUDY SUGGEST THAT WOMEN POLICE EXECUTIVES AS A GROUP EXHIBIT MORE STRENGTH IN LEADERSHIP ASSOCIATED PERSONALITY TRAITS THAN DO MALE POLICE EXECUTIVES AS A GROUP.
Abstract
THE STUDY SAMPLE OF 26 FEMALE POLICE EXECUTIVES WAS STRONGER IN NINE OF ELEVEN LEADERSHIP TRAITS THAN A GROUP OF 226 MALE POLICE EXECUTIVES. AN EXAMINATION OF GENERAL PERSONALITY TRAITS REVEALED THAT WOMEN ARE LESS SUBMISSIVE, LESS SADISTIC, LESS HOSTILE TOWARD PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT SOCIAL OR RACIAL BACKGROUNDS, AND MORE CREATIVE THAN THEIR MALE COUNTERPARTS.
