Abstract
THE MAIN BODY OF THIS WORK IS AN EXAMINATION OF DATA COLLECTED DURING OTHER RESEARCH EFFORTS. THIS INFORMATION INCLUDES QUESTIONS RELATED TO THE RUNAWAY ACT AND THEREFORE EXPLORES THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN RUNAWAY BEHAVIOR AND THE SELECTED VARIABLES OF ALIENATION, DENIAL OF ACCESS TO SOCIAL ROLES, AND NEGATIVE LABELING. THERE IS A DISCUSSION OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF RUNAWAY YOUTH. IN ADDITION, THIS REPORT REVIEWS THE SOCIAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, AND CORRECTIONAL LITERATURE ON THE PROBLEMS OF RUNAWAY YOUTH IN AN ANNOTATED SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHY. A FULL BIBLIOGRAPHY AT THE END OF THE REPORT INCLUDES ALMOST EVERYTHING THE AUTHORS COULD FIND THAT RELATED TO THE RUNAWAY PROBLEM. AVAILABLE EVALUATION STUDIES ON THE RUNAWAY PROGRAM ARE ALSO LISTED AND SUMMARIZED.
