Abstract
The population detained in hospitals in 1991 rose to 2,143 patients, the highest figure in the past 10 years. The number of restricted patients admitted to the hospital was 657 in 1991, a 100-percent increase over the 1986 figure. The number of restricted patients transferred from prison before their sentence was completed increased from 180 to 264 (47 percent) between 1990 and 1991; the number transferred after sentence rose from 145 to 181.
