This report presents a statistical summary of criminal prosecutions dealt with in courts of summary jurisdiction throughout South Australia during the first 6 months of 1981.
Abstract
The summary of cases covers the number of charges, pleas and outcomes, penalties imposed and other orders, time to decide the case, bail status at final appearance, types of cases heard and comparison with previous half-years, driving offenses, drug offenses, and 'shop theft.' Characteristics of persons charged pertain to defendants' age and sex, employment status, previous record, marital status, and country of birth. Also noted are geographical variations in types of appearances and crimes by aboriginal defendants. Numerous tables are included.
