Minnesota police have determined that large sections of the military curriculum can be adapted for the law enforcement environment and that there is a sizable need for sniper training of police.
Abstract
The Minnesota National Guard's Precision Shooting and Counter-Sniper School at Camp Ripley's sniper school curriculum is guided by fou objectives: 1) promote precision marksmanship; 2) develop intelligence gathering skills; 3) teach the fieldcraft needed for survival; and 4) develop a trained cadre to teach skills in home units. Text for the course is a handbook of practical, how-to information and technical appendixes. Training scenarios incorporated in the curriculum are described, and reactions of both students and instructors to the course are noted.
