CENTRALIZED COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK WHICH UTILIZES A SINGLE CENTER TO HANDLE ALL INCOMING PUBLIC SERVICE CALLS.
Abstract
THE COMMUNICATIONS CENTER IS MANNED BY NON-LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL SPECIALLY TRAINED TO HANDLE ALL CALLS AND DISPATCH A UNIT FROM THE REQUIRED PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCY OR TRANSFER THE CALL TO THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITY. THE SYSTEM TIES IN AGENCIES AT THE LOCAL, COUNTY, STATE AND FEDERAL LEVELS, SEVERAL CRIME INFORMATION SYSTEMS, AND COUNTY MEDICAL SERVICES. THE 10,000 SQUARE FOOT CENTER OPERATES WITH 50 SEPARATE FREQUENCIES, 36 RECEIVERS, 28 TRANSMITTERS , AND A VARIETY OF WIRE LINE FACILITIES. IT IS EQUIPPED WITH TOTAL EMERGENCY POWER AND PROVISIONED FOR TWO WEEKS OF SELF-SUSTAINED OPERATION FOR UP TO 100 PERSONS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
