This report describes the Vermont Department of Corrections, the offender population it manages, and trends in the State's corrections system.
Abstract
Goals and responsibilities of the department are outlined, and an organization chart is provided. The department's divisions--security and operations, probation and parole, program services, administrative support services, legal, and research and planning--are described. Increases in the number of people under department supervision or custody since 1975 are detailed. Tasks and trends for the future are also outlined. Appendixes cover definitions, operating and capital budgets, facility custody/needs classification description, custody and security levels and criteria, probation and parole risk/need classification description, program inventories, and miscellaneous data. Graphs and tables are provided.
