Data from the annual Police Administration Statistics Survey conducted by the Canadian Center for Justice Statistics formed the basis for this report on characteristics of municipal police agencies in Canada in 1993.
Abstract
The report contains summary information on agencies employing 62 percent of all police officers in Canada and providing services to 73 percent of the Canadian population. The municipal policing includes contract policing by the provincial police force for specific provinces. The report is organized by province. Within each province, municipal police forces are grouped by one of nine population ranges, and the municipalities within each group are listed alphabetically. For each municipal police force, a summary of population, personnel, and expenditures are presented along with personnel and expenditure ratios. Tables
